Membership has its Benefits!
WPMCA offers many great services and products. But, perhaps most important, is our ability to help you with industry questions. We strive to be "your answer place" - call us if you need information on topics ranging from filing a complaint under the Unfair Sales Act, to food/safety regulations, to required safety posters. Here are some of the other great things we offer:
Your Voice at the Capitol
Thanks to the size and strength of our membership, as well as our experience at the capitol (over 80 years as your trade association!), we are able to actively engage in the legislative process. We monitor the legislature and all regulatory agencies that oversee your business. We represent your best interests in any discussions involving the Unfair Sales Act, Motor Fuel Taxes, Alcohol and Tobacco retailing, Lottery Ticket sales, etc. One of the bills we're supporting would allow for some portability of alcohol retailers licenses from one municipality to another. And, we're lobbying hard AGAINST any efforts to repeal the Unfair Sales Act. If you're interested in working on any of these issues, contact Matt Hauser, Director of Government Affairs, and join our grassroots effort.
Annual Convention & Industry Trade Show
Ours is the best show in the Midwest. This two-day program includes seminars by experts on emerging industry trends; educational sessions on sound business management; updates on legislative and regulatory matters; and, trade show exhibits by industry suppliers, vendors and consultants. This year's event will be held in Madison, Wisconsin at the Marriott West. Mark your calendars for April 15 & 16, 2008. For any questions, please contact Lori Gerber, Director of Education & Events.
WPMCA offers educational seminars for you and your staff. Most recently we’ve offered classes on Stage II certification courses for Wisconsin's non-attainment area, HAZ MAT training, Upgrade Requirements for Above Ground Storage Tanks, Unfair Sales Act Seminars & how to comply & how to pursue a claim, and the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) Technician Certification Program. We also work in partnership with other organizations to bring you better prices on important educational seminars. For example, we worked with the Wisconsin Association of Health Underwriters (WAHU) to present a conference on health insurance options. For information on our upcoming seminars, or suggestions for needed educational opportunities, please contact Lori Gerber.
We offer up-to-the minute information in various formats. At the beginning of every month our Informer comes to you. It contains a wide variety of petroleum related news. An issue might contain an article on proposed Minimum Wage Increases in Wisconsin. Or, it may contain a letter from Wisconsin's Attorney General on how retailers can help law enforcement fight the manufacture of Methampehetamine. For more pressing news, our Legislative Updates are faxed or emailed directly to your office. These primarily deal with important legislation and may ask for your help influencing key decision makers on a particular bill moving through the house or senate.
Your membership can pay for itself!
Utilizing our membership's group purchasing power, we have been able to negotiate great deals exclusively for WPMCA members. Don't miss out; your membership could pay for itself.
The WPMCA Board of Directors has a commitment to bettering the business climate for those in the petroleum industry - they are independent business owners just like you! Numerous areas are represented, including Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, and Illinois, by dedicated individuals who are working for YOU!
